Tips to Protect Your Finned Friends During Extreme Heat

  1. Do not add algae control products.
  2. Use Bacteria, only if absolutely necessary, during the coolest part of the day.
  3. If you do not have an aerator, purchase one. Most of the time a waterfall will not add sufficient oxygen in extreme heat.
  4. Keep the pond shaded by adding water lilies, lotus or floating plants.
  5. Offer places for your fish to hide—koi kastles, caves or plants.
  6. Add oxygenating plants like Hornwort.
  7. Do not change large amounts of water at one time.
  8. Feed no more than 2x daily.
  9. Keep your pump running at all times.
